my creative pursuits with quilts and knits

QOV progress

nydss readyNew Year’s Day 2013 saw many quilters gathering for a virtual quilting bee, named New Year’s Day Sit ‘n Sew.  I had the pieces cut and ready to go…paper plates are a great organizational tool.  I pieced a few, then stopped to trim the half-square triangles.nydss trim

I like the idea of chain piecing, but I need the gratification of seeing finished blocks.  So, I work on about six blocks at a time. I am using the Star Crossed pattern from the December 2012 Block Lotto.nydss blocksThese are 9-inch finished blocks, and I plan a 6 by 7 layout, with sashing.  The minimum size for QOV is 55 by 60 inches, and I like to have a final size closer to 60 by 72 inches.  Since I didn’t make much progress on New Year’s Day, this will be a priority for January.
